Understand the dollars at risk - Randy Pausch mentions this in his lecture on Time Management. The cost to a company goes beyond the salary. There is the cost of computers, furniture, light/heat/cooling, etc. Not to mention benefits, vacations pay, etc. This totals to over double whatever the salary is. So, when you’re with the hiring manager on that interview – you really need to approach the interview with a sincere appreciation of their liability.
